A Regional Powerhouse
By Brannan Bell

Oklahoma grassroots magazine, Herbage Magazine, started in 2018, just before the passing of SQ788. James, the owner of Herbage, envisioned it becoming a leading platform and publication for the region. His goal was to establish something as the foremost platform and publication in a region that he knew well and loved hard; a place he experienced a lot of life at. Growing up in Oklahoma himself, he’s cherished the sense of community in his home state for as long as he can remember.

James began in small town newspapers and community magazines across the nation. He found himself diving further into the digital realm of publishing and revenue generation for communities. He then became responsible for generating revenue for large publications in and outside of Oklahoma. After much success in his publishing journey, he ventured out on his own to start a digital advertising agency here in Oklahoma, Scroll3 Media. Scroll3 Media now powers Herbage Magazine and other ventures for the company’s diverse set of business solutions.

James is grateful for yet another opportunity to work with savvy clientele and those that have similar lifestyles. He is a patient and a student of cannabis. While holding this plant in high regard and with wholehearted passion, James has combined his skill set for publishing with his enthusiasm for the cannabis plant.

Now the result is what you’re currently reading, Herbage Magazine.

From the perspective of an owner and publisher, James believes that Herbage takes pride in being a pivotal point for businesses within the industry, with those catering to individuals involved in both the lifestyle and the industry of cannabis itself. Herbage Magazine achieves this by engaging the audience by sharing compelling stories, featuring exceptional artists within our local communities, all while keeping a strong focus on education and working hard to come together to remove the stigmas associated with such a healing plant.

What do you love most about the OK cannabis community?

“Personally, it’s meeting the people, listening, and watching. There are situations that we find ourselves in that would have been unheard of 10 years ago, even less. It’s amazing to me at times when I just take it all in and realize where we are on this crazy winding road of cannabis legalization and commerce”. – James Bridges

How has cannabis benefited your lives over at Herbage Magazine?

“Cannabis helps me to overcome major social anxieties. Consuming cannabis is how I relieve my depression symptoms without using harmful pharmaceuticals. Also, being a cannabis professional has enabled me to touch the lives of hundreds if not thousands of patients living with debilitating issues”. -Leah Jenkins Social Media Manager

“Cannabis is the reason why I’m still here. It’s helped my life tremendously. 15 years ago when cannabis was extremely taboo in Oklahoma, I lost 8 friends in one year to opioid abuse. We were young adults lacking community. Community is what I found in cannabis and working with Herbage Magazine too”.
-Brook Miller Chief of Advertising

“It really helps me in so many ways! From helping with social anxiety and emotional stressors, to really helping me dive into my own creative mind. I can’t even begin to explain how cannabis helped me in my health journey as a cancer patient. It’s something I’ll use for the rest of my life”.
-Katie Bridges Coordination Manager

At The Cowboy Cup this year, Herbage is most excited about their consumption and music lounge area. “We have a spacious booth station adjacent to the Cowboy Cup grand stage, where our musicians will be playing on both days of the cup! We will be set up with Chet and his group from the Lettuce Lounge. Additionally, our cover artist will be live painting the cover of our 60th edition of Herbage during the cup inside our lounge area.” James says, “It’s going to be a fantastic event, as it is every year, and we can’t wait for it to be at a new and exciting location this time around!”

In the upcoming year, Herbage Magazine is committed to continuing its tradition of delivering high-quality content that resonates with our diverse audience. We have exciting plans in the pipeline to explore emerging trends, feature thought-provoking stories, and showcase innovative perspectives within the realm of cannabis lifestyle and wellness. Our dedicated team is working diligently to bring you fresh and engaging content that reflects the ever-evolving landscape of the culture.
