Easy Homemade thc infused oil

Food Recipes

Making your own thc infused oil at home, is much easier than you might think, and with a few easy steps you too can enjoy your own homemade thc infused oil!

First gather all your ingredients. You will want to break your cannabis buds down into smaller pieces and de-carb it first.

Second comes de-carboxilating – layer the pieces onto a rimmed baking tray lined with baking paper/parchment. Place the baking tray into the center of a preheated oven set to 240°F-248°F (115°C-120°C) for 30-40 minutes. Stir every 10 minutes. Cool to room temp and coursly grind your cannabis.

Next, combine your cannabis and oil using one of the 3 methods listed below. I like to put my ground cannabis in a square of cheesecloth and tie up the top before putting it into the oil, then you don’t have to strain out all the cannabis later, but you don’t have to do this, you can simply strain the oil after it has cooled down. This can result in more plant material being left in your finished oil.

NOTE: I have found that coconut oil makes the best oil for cannabis oil. Coconut oil contain fatty acids that go well in both edibles and topicals. However, alternatives to coconut oil also work well, such as vegetable oil or olive oil.

  • Stirring occasionally in a slow cooker or crockpot on low for four to six hours.
  • In a double boiler on low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally – a simple heat-proof bowl over a saucepan of boiling water will suffice.
  • On the stove in a saucepan on low heat for 3 hours, stirring regularly. This method is the fastest but most susceptible to scorching. You can add a small amount of water to the oil to prevent scorching.

The most important thing to remember is NEVER let your oil go above 245°F or it WILL scorch. I recommend adding a few drops of water to prevent this and also using a candy thermometer to monitor temp.

And there you have it. Homemade cannabis oil!

I recommend cooking at temps less than 350°F to preserve terpenes. Store in a dark, cool location.

You May use your homemade oil to cook with, as a topical, or simply drop under your tongue. Please medicate responsibly!
