Being a Thorn in the Side of Corporate Cannabis

Culture Features Lifestyle Reviews

by Rayne Graham

Intention and Energy are the windows to the human soul. I am sure you have heard it was the eyes, but in my experience, a person’s intentions and energy speak volumes before their mouths ever do. When I was given the opportunity to sit down and chill out with the owners of The Divine Collection, I was able to read both tales mentioned above right away, and the windows were actually open letting fresh airs of truth and passion for the Cannabis plant in.

Brandon Vandeloo has been growing Cannabis ever since he can remember. He was an underground cultivator before it was popular, public, and legal. Since he is a purveyor in the finer things in Cannabis, Brandon decided to create an umbrella for his growing, projects, events, breeding, etc… Thus, The Divine Collection was born! After attending an Oklahoma canna con, and meeting Kane, they decided it was time to bring TDC to the legal Oklahoma market. The rest is history.

Brandon had been soured by his past working in the grows of Corporate Cannabis. “To see the plant bastardized, taken advantage of, stripped down, and to watch people squeeze as much money as they can from a monetary standpoint, I think Is wrong,” he stated when speaking of his experiences in large scale grows. But when I say he has been soured, I do not mean towards this beautiful plant, as his passion for the plants and people who consume it are evident. Especially when he talks about how it saved his life in many ways and he wants to share the love he has for it to the public.

Kane handles more of the business and networking side of things and Brandon is the creative mind behind the grow and processing. They both create a team that exudes transparency and love for the cannabis community and plant. They want you to be able to, “Smoke what they smoke”, and push to be the underdog championing for the patients of Oklahoma to get quality medicine. In order to achieve this, everything within their operation has a purpose. For example, Ice is curated in-house so nothing new is introduced into the hash that shouldn’t be there in the first place.

Brandon was very clear on this point when he said, “We foster trichomes from the moment of conception, everything Is handled with care.” With breeding, growing, cultivating, and processing being exactly what the Divine Collection does, it was very easy to see his point. This translates very well into their product itself, the ice water hash!

I have had the opportunity to try a few flavors on their line up like the coveted solventless diamonds. Yes, solventless and diamonds can go in the same sentence! Please note, it’s hard to get your hands-on Divine products sometimes due to the size of the team (6 members) and the curated cannabis experience approach, but that makes this brand all the better for the Oklahoma Community in my opinion.  For example, their hash is not divided into different micron bags during washing, which would knock more and more of those trichome heads off. The trichomes are the part of the plant responsible for the creation of cannabinoids and terpenes. Instead, Brandon chooses to keep everything full spectrum as in his own words, “the patient deserves all the cannabinoids from the plant”, period.

So, now that we know more about how it is made and the men behind the brand, let’s talk a little bit about the products that brought me down this hashed out road shall we? I have two favorites at the moment, which in truth is ever changing as you can never really have a favorite flavor of 100% true ice water hash, but I digress. First, is the Mojito Diamond Sauce and although I have said it not even a few paragraphs above, this is SOLVENTLESS diamond sauce people.

That means nothing was added to the making of this product but the plant itself, well and some specially curated Ice. Honestly, the best way to be able to tell?  There is no burn when you inhale, and you know exactly what I am talking about. My other favorite is the GMO hash, which is at a low price point considered the shelf or fridge it is in when displayed in the dispensaries and precisely the reason I grabbed it in the first place. It was my first experience with The Divine Collection when it comes to this flavor and I have to say the price point was the tip of the ice burg of making me want more. The taste, smell, and experience were obviously what made up the rest!

Don’t expect this brand to only have Hash for too long though, as Brandon said in his own words, “Hash is only the beginning.”
